Local activism works. Here’s exactly what you can do — starting today.
1. Sign the Petition
Go to Classic Pizza (403 W Broadway St, Fort Meade) and ask for the GREEN BINDER. This is the official petition present ed to commissioners.
2. Attend Commission Meetings
The ordinance has been sent to the Planning and Zoning board and will return to commissioners. Your physical presence sends a message. Check the News page for the next scheduled meeting.
What to do at a meeting
- Sign up for public comment (usually available 30 min before meeting)
- State your name and address — this goes on the official record
- Be specific: water, noise, historic preservation, lack of notification
- Keep it to 3 minutes — be prepared
3. Write or Call Your Commissioners
Contact the Fort Meade City Commission directly. Be respectful and specific about your concerns.

What Has Worked So Far
Community resistance has already made a difference:
- The commission postponed its vote after overwhelming public opposition in March 2026
- The city attorney was replaced following the March 10 meeting
- Florida SB 484 and the federal AI Data Center Moratorium Act were introduced in direct response to community pressure nationwide
- An estimated $64 billion in U.S. datacenter projects have been delayed or blocked by local activism since 2025
